WELCOME TO
THE BOROUGH OF COLUMBIA
LEO LUTZ, MAYOR
Come visit the Historic Columbia Market House and see what’s happening. Not only is the Market House open every Thursday and Friday, but the Market House is getting a make-over.
Several years of hard work by the Market House Advisory Group has resulted in the start of a nearly $1 Million Dollar Renovation Project. The Phase 1 Project will include a new metal roof, refurbished windows and doors, a new storm water system, curb, sidewalk and repair and preservation of the brick exterior. The Market House will remain open during the Renovation Project, but shoppers should be reminded there may be some minor inconveniences.
Built in 1869, the Market House has been in continuous use for community events and a local farmers market except for several years when the market was discontinued. With the current focus on buying local and buying fresh, the Historic Columbia Market House has taken on new life. Currently, the market is operating at full capacity and has become a regular meeting place for local residents to shop, meet and have lunch. The market has also become a business incubator for new business. Several new business ventures have expanded to shops in the downtown.
The continued success of the Historic Columbia Market House and future renovations will depend on local residents to make a firm commitment to continue to support the market and its vendors. Remember, “BUY LOCAL, BUY FRESH” your Market House depends on you.
