Working Together for a Common Cause - A Better Community!
The Borough of Palmyra is a community consisting of approximately two (2) square miles and having a population of 7,096 as determined by the 2000 census. It is surrounded on the north, east, and south sides by North Londonderry Township, Lebanon County, and on the west side by Derry Township, Dauphin County.

The Council is comprised of seven members elected to staggered terms. As the governing body, the Council is responsible for maintaining a fiscally sound, healthy, safe community for the residents of Palmyra Borough through executing legislation, creating policies, levying taxes, authorizing expenditures, and overseeing the management of the borough. Council appoints interested residents to serve as members of various advisory and authority boards and Commissions. The Boards and commissions serve as advisors to the Council.

The daily operations of the borough are performed by four departments and, with the exception of the Police Department, are overseen by the Borough Manager. The departments include Administration, Highway, Refuse, Recycling & Parks, and Wastewater Treatment Plant and Police. The Manager directs and coordinates the activities of the Borough's departments and insures that the policies and decisions of Council are implemented.

Council meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the Municipal Center at 325 S. Railroad Street. The meetings are open to the public and time is allotted for public comment. Additional meetings are held during budget preparation and when special needs or issues arise. All meeting notices and notices of the Council's intent appear in the Lebanon Daily News.
